Cedefop views Digitary positively
Cedefop is the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training and is based in Greece. The organisation aims to promote and develop vocational education and training in the European Union through the provision of technical know-how and by promoting the exchange of ideas.
As part of its role Cedefop is charged with developing technology related to Europass and is currently developing a system for Europass Mobility that is intended for implementation at National Europass Centres. The approach for the Diploma Supplement is different, however, as it predates Europass and is issued by individual Higher Education Institutions.
After reviewing Digitary in the context of Europass and the Bologna process, Cedefop has submitted a report to the EU Commission’s Life Long Learning Unit, which has responsibility for policy relating to Europass.
The report concludes: “To our view, Digitary provides an excellent example that such a system can and does work.
”Digitary is designed for the issuing and authentication online by universities and other higher education institutions of electronic official graduation documents.
