Institutions talk about their experience of Digitary
There used to be a truism in Dublin that you could wait ages for a bus and then two would come at the same time. The bus system is vastly better now, but it seems that the old principal might still apply to customer presentations, as Digitary will feature in no less than three by UK institutions in the next three months or so.
In March, London School of Economics (www.lse.ac.uk) will present at the Universities and Colleges Information Systems Association (www.ucisa.ac.uk) Annual Management Conference on their experience of implementing Digitary for the issuing and authentication online of etranscripts and Diploma Supplements, with the objective of improving service delivery to students and reducing costs. LSE has many international connections and it will be interesting to see their experiences.
Following that, the University of Kent (www.kent.ac.uk) will present at the Student Record Officers Conference (www.sroc.ac.uk) in early April on their re-engineering of administration process and procedures for congregation and the move to the use online facilities including Digitary.
Also at SROC, the University of Derby (www.derby.ac.uk) will present on their experience of working with the national HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report) pilot group through to production of an electronic HEAR to graduates in the 09/10 academic year using Digitary.
These three presentations follow recent presentations by Australian National University (www.anu.edu.au) on their Digitary implementation including at the Heads of Student Administration Conference in Darwin in September last.
Unlike the old problem with Dublin busses, this particular confluence will bring benefit, with institutions having the opportunity to learn from their peers' experiences.
