WIN-WIN-WIN at the Academic Registrars Council annual conference
Reduced costs, increased security of qualifications and enhanced service to graduates was the focus of Digitary's presentation at the Academic Registrars Council Conference (www.arc.ac.uk), which took place this year in Liverpool.
The volume of transcripts and requests for qualification verifications has increased dramatically. Many institutions now dedicate several staff just to service requests, but still institutions can't keep up, causing students and graduates to suffer inconvenience. The addition of European Diploma Supplements has added a further burden as levels of concern about the legitimacy of paper documents increase.
Digitary's presentation showed how improving the security of key electronic documents creates an opportunity to realise benefits for institutions, students, graduates and employers that have until now not been possible. Institutions make savings by eliminating costly administration tasks and postage costs, by delegating control of Data Protection related tasks to students and graduates and by moving the authentication of documents online. In addition to savings, Institutions also enhance the security of their credentials. Students and graduates get much better service from their Institution and for the first time have an easy means to send official documents electronically. Employers and other Relying Parties have, also for the first time, an easy and trusted means of authenticating Higher Education credentials with a few clicks of their mouse.
